• Granbury ISD Volunteer Application

A new application is required each school year.
  • State law authorizes criminal record checks on all school district volunteers. Conviction of a crime is not an automatic bar to volunteering in Granbury Schools. The District will consider the nature of the offense, the date of the offense, and the relationship between the offense and volunteering in the public schools.

Note: This form will be used for no purpose other than to obtain a criminal history check from appropriate law enforcement agencies and to help determine a person's suitability for working with Granbury ISD schools/students. GISD assures to the volunteer that the data on the application will not be used in any other way than to determine suitability for volunteering.

Granbury ISD will not clear volunteers whose characteristics do not meet the District's expectations. The following list is not intended to be all-inclusive; it is however representative of the kinds of conduct and incidents which indicate unacceptable characteristics of volunteers and/or contractors at GISD:

    • Murder
    • Simple assault
    • Assault with a deadly weapon
    • Sexual assault
    • Assault
    • Injury to a family member
    • Assault-Injury to a child
    • Public Lewdness
    • Illegal firearm possession
    • Indecent exposure
    • Possession of child pornography
    • Rape
    • Any drug/controlled substance conviction
    • Other characteristics deemed unacceptable at the discretion of Granbury ISD

Granbury Independent /school District is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against persons because of age, race, color, creed, religion, disability, gender, ethnic or national origin, or veteran status. Granbury Independent School District prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities and will reasonably accommodate applicants with a disability, upon request, and will also ensure reasonable accommodation for employees with disabilities.

A pre-employment and annual criminal history background check is required for each position in the Granbury ISD including employees, substitutes, volunteers, and student teachers. The district shall follow applicable federal laws. state laws, and Board Policy in obtaining criminal history record information. If any applicant is found to have falsified any information regarding conviction history, the applicant may not be considered to volunteer.

Any person interested in volunteering on a GISD campus must complete the application below.

When the HR Department receives a request to volunteer through the on-line application system, criminal history record information is requested from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Volunteer Criminal Background Guidelines contains a list representative of the kinds of conduct and incidents which indicate unacceptable characteristics. When considering the criminal history record, the district will also consider:

    • The nature and/or severity of the offense.
    • The length of time since the conviction.

A VALID PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED. Please Note: Volunteers must be over 18 years old to volunteer.

Prospective Volunteers must read the Volunteer Handbook prior to submitting the Volunteer Application. By submitting this form, prospective volunteers acknowledge receipt of the handbook and agree to follow all guidelines.
